Nicole H. Cagle Little Wishes Fund

On August 1, Good Sam received a very heart-felt gift from the Nicole H. Cagle Memorial Fund during a gathering of family and friends at Good Sam's Roanoke office.  Nicole (Niki) Cagle was an inspirational young mother of two who died June 11, 2009, under the care of Good Sam Hospice.  She did not want to leave her husband and two young sons with the memory of her dying at home, so she returned to the hospital for her final hours because there was not a hospice facility in Roanoke.  Nicole's family established the Nicole Hodgins Cagle Memorial Fund to rainse money to build a hospice house in Roanoke.

When it became apparent to her family that raising enough money for this specific dream was a long time away, they wanted to see the money already raised used for a purpose which would honor both Nicole's wishes and her spirit.  Nicole often said how blessed she felt to have family and friends who were available to fulfill whatever wish she had in the moment (for example, a pedicure or a piece of cake to share with friends), knowing that other people may not have such resources.  Nicole's family decided to donate money from the fund to Good Samaritan Hospice to be used to fulfill the simple wishes of hospice patients just as she would have wanted.

Good Sam is honored to be a part of fulfilling Nicole's legacy by providing these "special wishes" to hospice patients at the end-of-life.
