Donations

When Good Samaritan Hospice was founded in 1992, we made a commitment to provide excellent hospice and bereavement services to anyone needing them regardless of ability to pay. Donations help insure this promise for the future as well as help us offer services that go beyond what a typical hospice insurance benefit covers.

Designated Gifts

Monetary donations given to Good Samaritan may be designated for discretionary use by the organization (as patient care needs arise and to assist in offsetting operational expenses such as the non-reimbursed bereavement and grief and loss programming) or to our endowment fund through the Foundation for Roanoke Valley. Many families like to memorialize or honor a loved one.

Planned Giving

Don't forget to include Good Samaritan in your will! Your gift will ensure that our services are available to indigent patients for years to come. Consult your estate planner or attorney.

Gifts in Kind

As a not-for-profit organization, we try to allocate the majority of our resources to patient care. As a result, we often rely on local businesses, churches and organizations to help offset our operational costs, as well as to assist in creating special events for our patients, families and employees. We also accept gifts of personal toiletries, nonperishable food items, office supplies, children's toys, craft supplies and other donations.

Love Light Tree

Celebrate the life of someone you cherish and light up the holidays for a terminally ill person in our community. By making a donation to Good Samaritan Hospice, you may sponsor a "Love Light" in honor or memory of someone who has touched your life and left it changed forever. Your contribution helps provide hospice care and free grief support programs throughout the Roanoke and New River valleys.

For each donation made in memory or honor of a loved one, a "Love Light" displaying his/her name will be placed on our trees. The Love Light Trees are on display at Tanglewood and New River Valley malls throughout the holidays. For a donation of $25 or more, a hand-crafted porcelain ornament will be sent to you or to the person of your choice.
