The hospice team is an interdisciplinary group of
people who assist the terminally ill patient and his
or her family throughout the patient's illness.
In addition to the physical care of terminally ill
patients, "Good Sam," as we are affectionately
known, provides family support and community
education and support.
Patient Care
Good Samaritan Hospice's
interdisciplinary team consisting of three
components: nursing, social work and spiritual care.
Each team member and volunteer is specially trained
to assist the patient to live as fully as
comfortably as possible with his or her rights to
dignity and choice intact.
Family & Community
Support
Hospice's holistic approach to care extends beyond
the patient to his or her family. Grief and loss
support services are provided from the time a
patient enters hospice. Our nurses,
social work team and
chaplain works with your family to
make the final moments with your loved one the best
they can be. They will walk with you through the
stages of grief and loss throughout the journey.
After a patient's death, our bereavement services
continue to provide family support for at least one
year following a patient's death.
In addition to the services our grief and
bereavement counselors provide associated with
hospice care, the Good Samaritan social work team
offers a number of support services available to the
general public.
Community Education
We believe that education and partnership with our
community is essential to the success of our
services. For this reason, we offer a number of
facilitated programs and in-services on a variety of
topics relevant to your organization, practice or
facility.

"Being with someone who is dying is a holy
experience. I have seen spiritual healing
take place as the person reflects on
meaningful moments in life and comes to
peace with that life, with family and with
God. I feel privileged as a chaplain to be
able to affirm the person's life as well as
God's love for them."
